The Basics of ‘Supernatural Senses’

HEBREWS 5:14

“But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.”

You MUST exercise your spiritual senses! The Word became flesh, so you are being introduced to God thru His love letter (the Bible), but now it’s time that you see Him and gain an intimate relationship with Him.

MANIFESTATION

Step beyond the realm of hearing a message from a church, a pastor, and jump into the realm where you can see the angels, the enemy, our Father, Jesus, and you can identify the Holy Spirit.

2 Corinthians 4:18

Since we consider and look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen; for the things that are visible are temporal (brief and fleeting), but the things that are invisible are deathless and everlasting.

This verse is stating there are TWO realms – natural and eternal

  • Temporal – means where time is of value our natural realm
  • Everlasting – means the eternal realm

NATURAL AND SUPERNATURAL

You have senses in the natural realm and you also have senses in the spiritual realm. Vision, hearing, taste, touch/feeling, smell. The senses that you have in your natural realm correspond to spiritual realm. The senses you have in the spiritual realm correspond to the natural ones. When you accepted Jesus into your life/heart, HE entered your spirit.  His spirit entered your spirit.  And made you a brand-new creation.  And as a new creation you have access to HIM leading you and guiding you, but you also now have access to the unseen nature.

1. VISION / SIGHT
Ability to see in the spirit realm.

God says “what do you see?”
The Prophet says “I see”.

JOHN 5:19

So Jesus answered them by saying, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, the Son is able to do nothing of Himself (of His own accord); but He is able to do only what He sees the Father doing, for whatever the Father does is what the Son does in the same way [in His turn].

EPHESIANS 1:18

By having the eyes of your heart flooded with light, so that you can know and understand the hope to which He has called you, and how rich is His glorious inheritance in the saints (His set-apart ones),

  • Paul prays a prayer here that the eyes of the heart or the spirit would be open. This prayer wasn’t only for the Ephesians, but was a prayer that extends to you and me. What do eyes do?  They see. You have the ability to see

MARK 8:17-18

And being aware [of it], Jesus said to them, Why are you reasoning and saying it is because you have no bread? Do you not yet discern or understand? Are your hearts in [a settled state of] hardness? Having eyes, do you not see [with them], and having ears, do you not hear and perceive and understand the sense of what is said? And do you not remember?

  • He is speaking about spiritual perception here. They didn’t have food and God, He’s, talking about bread and they were like, “we forgot the bread,” but He was talking about spiritual realm.  Eyes of faith you can see through, He is saying can you perceive that, can you see that, can you attach your vision to that. You are made in the likeness of God you have His nature His faculty.

3 SOURCES TO PULL INFORMATION

  • Natural Man:
Get him out of the way. We don’t want to get him mixed up with the voice of God.
    2 Corinthians 10: 3-5
  • Demonic Source:
    temptation/lies from the enemy
  • God:
    Voice of love.
    Voice of kindness, goodness.

IMAGINATION

  • A main way that believers see is the imagination — small images that can fleet away. Don’t be concerned if it is seeming faint. Grab those things and focus on them. As you do the images will get stronger and your relationship will get stronger. Write it down then go back to where you were in your vision. There is no time or distance in the spirit (take up where you left off.) Many of you have been seeing the spiritual realm but your just not believing it.

OPEN VISIONS

  • Your eyes are open and you’re seeing the vision in front of you. An open vision is NOT more powerful or does it carry more authority, it is just a different way to see. Nowhere in the bible will you find that one vision is higher than another.

Examples:
You are here, in this moment/space, and the vision is before you and your watching the vision.

Remember:
You have to yell louder when your kids are further away. And when your up close it’s a still small voice.

TRANCE VISIONS

  • Inside the vision/dream, but you are awake. You can see the different elements inside the encounter in visionary form.

DEMONIC SPIRITS

  • Shadowy shapes
  • Dark mists
  • Actual demon manifestation
  • No such thing as ghost!!! That’s a demon.

    Example:
When reading a story about JBR –Jean Bene Ramsey. I saw a demon next to me and I could describe what he looked like. I immediately stopped reading the article and prayed it off. I fully believe demonic activity and demons are were and are still on assignment over this case.

NOTE:
People who claim to see ghost are not. I do not care if you say it was your aunt salley and she was nice. Demons are called familiar spirits for a reason.  It is not dear aunt sally.  It’s the enemy playing tricks on you.  The enemy cannot have what you don’t give him authority over.  Pretending to be some one like Aunt Sally might get a welcome in better than a monster looking creature. Remember, the bible says to be absent from this body is to be present with the LORD.

SIGHT IN CLOSING…

  • Elijah was awoken by and saw an angel and the angel even made him food to eat before telling him it was time to go. When we surrender our inner eyes and physical eyes to the Holy Spirit, He will flood them with light and we will see beyond, into what is imperceptible to the natural eye.

2. Hearing
You need spiritual ears to hear him

JOHN 10:27

The sheep that are My own hear and are listening to My voice; and I know them, and they follow Me. The most common way is through still small thought/voice. Just in your mind you’ll hear these thoughts like, “this is the way walk in it” God is patient, he good, kindness – everything you hear will line up with who he is. uTo be able to identify Gods words or his nature you study his nature and his words

  • Test the source of what you’re hearing.
  • Be able to identify Gods words, His nature, so study His nature and His words

HAVE A HEART OF PURSUIT

  • Be a pursuer. He loves that. That’s what he looks for. Its ok to make mistakes at first, as long as you’re trying to discern his voice correctly. Hearing comes from intimate relationship. The more you pursue Him, the more you’ll understand His language to you. Test the fruit. Always keep moving forward.

AUDIBLE VOICE / SOUNDS

  • John 12:28-29 [Rather, I will say,] Father, glorify (honor and extol) Your [own] name! Then there came a voice out of heaven saying, I have already glorified it, and I will glorify it again.  The crowd of bystanders heard the sound and said that it had thundered; others said, An angel has spoken to Him!
  • Colossians 3:2  And set your minds and keep them set on what is above (the higher things), not on the things that are on the earth.
  • Acts 2:2 When suddenly there came a sound from heaven like the rushing of a violent tempest blast, and it filled the whole house in which they were sitting.

In JOHN 12: 29-29, the crowd heard the audible sound of the fathers voice.  Only they had trouble distinguishing it.  Some heard it as thunder, while others thought it was an angel. Jesus was experienced in the Fathers voice so he was able to discern it easier.

Examples of hearing:
<>Knocking: God wanting more – opening doors
<>Choir of Angels
<>Have you ever heard your name being called out loud?  Maybe even in a familiar voice.

Hearing in Closing…

Remember, To be able to grow in anything you have to experience it.

  • Young Samuel heard a voice 3x (1 Sam 3:9).
  • Elisha supernaturally heard the secret plots of the enemy King against the nation of Israel.
  • Mary saw and heard an angel Philip heard an angel give him directions ( acts 8:23)

The Holy Spirit has more to say to those of us who have the spiritual ears to hear

3. Taste
O taste and see that the Lord [our God] is good!
Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the
man who trusts and takes refuge in Him. PSALM 34:8

JOB 6:30

Is there wrong on my tongue? Cannot my taste discern what is destructive?

  • I’ve tasted of the goodness of lord.  This is not natural taste, its in your soul, you spiritual taste.  You can taste in the natural things that are spiritual: signs and wonders. If we suddenly taste something sweet, sour, or salty, but the taste is not a result of anything we have physically had to eat or drink, we should ask the Lord if He is trying to speak to us.
  • Taste can tell when a discernment is pointing to the enemy-You can start to discern b/n good and evil by taste!!

EZEKIEL 3:1-3

He said to me, Son of man, eat what you find [in this book]; eat this scroll; then go and speak to the house of Israel. So I opened my mouth, and He caused me to eat the scroll. And He said to me, Son of man, eat this scroll that I give you and fill your stomach with it. Then I ate it, and it was as sweet as honey in my mouth.

PSALM 119:103

How sweet are Your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

  • You can eat and be sustained by the word of God.  Israel, when they went thru the wilderness they were fed by mana from heaven and said it tasted good.

SONG OF SONGS 2:3

Like an apple tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved [shepherd] among the sons [cried the girl]! Under his shadow I delighted to sit, and his fruit was sweet to my taste.

JOHN 8:52

The Jews said to Him, Now we know that You are under the power of a demon ([a]insane). Abraham died, and also the prophets, yet You say, If a man keeps My word, he will never taste of death into all eternity.

  • Here he was tasting another realm.
  • Just like with all other sesnes, you can ask God to enhance your taste.

1 PETER 2:2

Like newborn babies you should crave (thirst for, earnestly desire) the pure (unadulterated) spiritual milk, that by it you may be nurtured and grow unto [completed] salvation

HEBREWS 5:14

But solid food is for full-grown men, for those whose senses and mental faculties are trained by practice to discriminate and distinguish between what is morally good and noble and what is evil and contrary either to divine or human law.

PSALM 19:9-10

The [reverent] fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the ordinances of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.  More to be desired are they than gold, even than much fine gold; they are sweeter also than honey and drippings from the honeycomb.

Taste in Closing…

To close our hearing, let’s remember, the apostle John also had an experience similar to Ezekiel.  He ate a scroll. John said it tasted sweet like honey to his mouth, but turned sour in his stomach (Rev 10:10).

Taste may not be one of the most popular senses of them all, but its in the bible and if its in the Bible has something I can have, which it is, then I want it.

4. Touch / Feeling
Jesus was touched by our infirmities

Touch the chair you’re sitting in, feel the texture. Touch something soft, or scratchy, or sticky, you feel the texture and it makes an impression on your body.

BODY IMPRESSIONS

  • Unusual strong pulling of the Holy Spirit
  • Feeling when you walk into a room
  • Feel a wind go by you
  • God will also let you feel what another person is feeling

    Example:
I get an unusual strong pulling of the Holy Spirit: when I have a word for someone I get like a heaviness feelings.

Note:
Feelers must learn to discern and separate that out or you could feel like a basket case lol.

Daniel 10:18

Then there touched me again one whose appearance was like that of a man, and he strengthened me.

Jeremiah 1:9

Then the Lord put forth His hand and touched my mouth. And the Lord said to me, Behold, I have put My words in your mouth.

Matthew 8:15

Then the Lord put forth His hand and touched my mouth. And the Lord said to me, Behold, I have put My words in your mouth.

  • When you touch someone. Lay hands on the sick. You are touching them, and there is no healing virtue in your physical touch per se but your spirit man. So, you can lay your hand on someone to bring healing to them.. healing power from your spirit will go into them b/c your touching them with the spirit of God within you.

Matthew 14:36

And begged Him to let them merely touch the fringe of His garment; and as many as touched it were perfectly restored.

  • You can encounter in the heavenly demission and bring them back b/c you ‘ve touched them in the realm of the spirit.
  • The lady who touched the hem of His garment and virtue was coming out. She was reaching out to touch and then was receiving spiritual virtue in the spirit through touch and then was pulling from the spirit realm.

ISAIAH 6:6-7

Then flew one of the seraphim [heavenly beings] to me, having a live coal in his hand which he had taken with tongs from off the altar; And with it he touched my mouth and said, Behold, this has touched your lips; your iniquity and guilt are taken away, and your sin is completely atoned for and forgiven.

JERIMIAH 4:18

“Your ways and your deeds
Have brought these things on you.
This is your tragedy and doom; how bitter,
How it has touched your heart!”

JOHN 11:33

When Jesus saw her sobbing, and the Jews who came with her [also] sobbing, He was deeply moved in spirit and troubled. [He chafed in spirit and sighed and was disturbed.]

1 SAMUEL 10:26

Saul also went home to Gibeah; and there went with him a band of valiant men whose hearts God had touched.

ACTS 17:27

So that they should seek God, in the hope that they might feel after Him and find Him, although He is not far from each one of us

Touch / Feeling in closing…

LUKE 8:43-46

As Jesus was on His way, the crowds almost crushed Him. And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for 12 years, but no one could heal her. She came up behind Him and touched the edge of His cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped. “Who touched Me?” Jesus asked. When they all denied it, Peter said, “Master, the people are crowding and pressing against You.” But Jesus said, “Someone touched Me; I know that power has gone out from Me.”

  • This is a great example of the difference between physical touch and spiritual touch. According to this story, Jesus was almost physically crushed, but when someone reached out and drew healing power out from His spirit, He declared that someone had touched Him, speaking spiritually, of course.
  • Peter was struck on his side by an angel (acts 12;7)
  • Eliphaz the Temanite encountered a spirit that made his hair on his body stand up (Job 4:15)

5. Smell
Fragrance in the fold of his garments

SONG OF SONGS 4:11

Your lips, O my [promised] bride, drop honey as the honeycomb; honey and milk are under your tongue. And the odor of your garments is like the odor of Lebanon.

2 CORINTHIANS 2:14-15

But thanks be to God, Who in Christ always leads us in triumph [as trophies of Christ’s victory] and through us spreads and makes evident the fragrance of the knowledge of God everywhere, For we are the sweet fragrance of Christ [which exhales] unto God, [discernible alike] among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing

DEMONIC REALM SMELLS

  • Smell of death
  • Smell of sulfur
  • Smell of rotten eggs
  • Smell of dirty laundry

Smell in closing…

Have you ever smelled a familiar smell?

Examples:
Smelling your grandmothers perfume?
( Maybe your grandmother struggled with something perticular and so does this person your around. )
Or your favorite meal?
( Maybe your favortie meal is this persons favorite meal )
If you’re around people push into this.. ASK QUESTIONS.

In closing…

DONOT UNDERESTIMATE THE HOLY SPIRIT, HE WORKS IN ALL WAYS!!
