Those are two different words with two different meanings. Most people love the savior, but do not fear the Lord. Loving God and Fearing God are not the same. We are not called to make a God in our own image, but the image of the Bible. There is a level of holiness we are called to live in. When God says to be separate from this world, He means that, be separate.
This is why you have Christians who love the Lord, but still smoke weed. This is why you have Christians who love the Lord, but still continue to get drunk in wine. This is why you have Christians who love the Lord, but still walk in adultery. This is why you have Christians who love the Lord, but do not seek a level of holiness that he requires.
Psalm 19:9 says, "The fear of the Lord is CLEAN, enduring forever; The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.'"
Notice the CLEAN. The fear of the Lord is a cleansing agent. It is a HOLIness agent, and holiness is not legalism it is sanctification. The fear of the Lord keeps you under the covering, not because he is angry or blood thirsty, but because stepping out on to a trading ground with the enemy means you’re stepping further away from Him.
