A Day Of Remembrance

9/11 A DAY OR REMEMBRANCE

I remember still being in bed, asleep, and 8 months pregnant when I got the news we had been attacked. My phone rang and when I answered I heard the words “Well.. They got us!!” I immediately turned on the news to the horror of what is now remembered as 9/11. I was a young 18 year old (yes, and pregnant, that’s a different subject on it’s own.) I didn’t really pay attention to world events or care too much about it. But, this, this was different. I was scared, because for the first time ever I truly saw how broken this world was. Now, 16 years later, I’d like to share a few reflections about that day.

1) Our trust is forever and always to be in God alone. Man will always let us, because we live in a fallen world. Storms will come, but take head that HE is our anchor when waves are rough. (JEREMIAH 17: 5-8.)
2) We must realize that God is not responsible for the wicked acts of evil men. This point refers back to #1, we live in a broken world. Remember that God is supernatural. He looks at things from an eternal perspective, while we look at things from an earthly perspective. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts” (ISAIAH 55:9). It is impossible for finite human beings to understand the ways of an infinite God (ROMANS 11:33-35). God is still in control. His sovereignty is never to be doubted.
3) WITNESS. Share your testimony. Spread the word. We don’t know what tomorrow holds. We don’t know if the person we see every week at Walmart is one day away from meeting the Almighty face to face. Be the light in the darkness. Ask God to show you someone to speak to when your out running errands. Let them know that God see’s them and loves them. Plant the seed for a beautiful tree of life with the Father to be grown. (2Corinthians 5:20-21)

“Why, I ask myself, are you so depressed? Why are you so upset inside? Hope in God! Because I will again give him thanks, my saving presence and my God” (Psalm 43:5).

“I say to the LORD, “You are my refuge, my stronghold! You are my God—the one I trust!” (Psalm 91:2)

“I know the plans I have in mind for you, declares the LORD; they are plans for peace, not disaster, to give you a future filled with hope” (Jeremiah 29:11).

“Dear friends, let’s love each other, because love is from God, and everyone who loves is born from God and knows God” (1 John 4:7).
