ANGELS
- The Greek word ἄγγελος or “angelos” means messenger or angel.
- Angels are purely spiritual beings that do God’s will
ANGELS WERE CREATED
Angels are part of the Universe God Created.
THE HEAVENS AND THE EARTH, AND ALL THE HOST OF THEM, WERE FINISHED. – GENESIS 2:1
“YOU ARE THE LORD, YOU ALONE; YOU HAVE MADE THE HEAVENS, THE HEAVEN OF HEAVENS, WITH ALL THEIR HOST. . . AND THE HOST OF HEAVEN WORSHIPS YOU.” –NEHEMIAH 9:6
Paul tells us that God created ALL things “visible and invisible.” and specially includes the Angelic world with the phrase:
“WHETHER THRONES OR DOMINIONS OR PRINCIPALITIES OR AUTHORITIES. – COLOSSIANS 1:16
THUS THE HEAVENS AND THE EARTH WERE FINISHED, AND ALL THE HOST OF THEM. GENESIS 2:1
Host = military host, host of people, the starts, the Angels.
The Hebrew word used for this is for Angels, it means: a mass or persons or things prepared for war. This tells un in Genesis when it says HE CREATED the sun, moon and host… the host is the Angels. So, that means BEFORE Adam and Eve ever fell in the Garden, God has his warrior Angels ready.
ANGELS EXIST DIFFERENT THAN US
The author of Hebrews suggests that ALL Angels are ‘spirits’ [Hebrews 1:13=14]
Angels cannot usually be seen by humans UNLESS God reveals them. [Numbers 22:31, 2 Kings 6:17, Luke 2:13]
However, from time to time, Angels took on a bodily form and appeared to various people in scripture. [Matthew 28:5, Hebrews 13:2]
WHAT DO ANGELS CONSIST OF:
- Light.
- Fire.
- Breath.
In the Bible we read that there are horses or FIRE and Chariots of FIRE. Those are Angelic horses.
Breath in Hebrew is RUACH [RUAK] which means: wind, BREATH, and spirit’
Anytime there would be an Angel appearance in the Bible there was always a LIGHT, a bright light with it.
God breathed eternal life into us, He breathed our spirit in to us.
God breathed His eternal Angels [spirits].
CHERUBIM
And this was their appearance: they had a human likeness, but each had four faces, and each of them had four wings. Their legs were straight, and the soles of their feet were like the sole of a calf’s foot. And they sparkled like burnished bronze. Under their wings on their four sides they had human hands. And the four had their faces and their wings thus: their wings touched one another. Each one of them went straight forward, without turning as they went. As for the likeness of their faces, each had a human face. The four had the face of a lion on the right side, the four had the face of an ox on the left side, and the four had the face of an eagle. Such were their faces. And their wings were spread out above. Each creature had two wings, each of which touched the wing of another, while two covered their bodies. And each went straight forward. Wherever the spirit would go, they went, without turning as they went. As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, like the appearance of torches moving to and fro among the living creatures. And the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning. And the living creatures darted to and fro, like the appearance of a flash of lightning. – EZEKIEL 1:5-14
Cherubs, plural is Cherubim
The word Cherub may come from a term “to guard” which would fit well with their role.
They guard the entrance to the Garden of Eden. [Genesis 3:24]
God is enthroned above them. [Ezekiel 10:1-22]
Two golden figures of Cherubim sit above the Ark of the Covenant where God promised to dwell among His people. [Exodus 25:22]
God rides a Cherub. [Psalm 18:10]
Praises sung to the Pure and Shining One, by King David, his servant, composed when the Lord rescued David from all his many enemies, including from the brutality of Saul 1 Lord, I passionately love you and I’m bonded to you! I want to embrace you,for now you’ve become my power! 2 You’re as real to me as bedrock beneath my feet, like a castle on a cliff, my forever firm fortress, my mountain of hiding, my pathway of escape, my tower of rescue where none can reach me. My secret strength and shield around me, you are salvation’s ray of brightness shining on the hillside, always the champion of my cause. 3 All I need to do is to call to you, singing to you, the praiseworthy God. When I do, I’m safe and sound in you. 4–5 For when the ropes of death wrapped around me and terrifying torrents of destruction overwhelmed me, taking me to death’s door, to doom’s domain, 6 I cried out to you in my distress, the delivering God, and from your temple-throne you heard my troubled cry. My sobs came right into your heart and you turned your face to rescue me.7 The earth itself shivered and shook. It reeled and rocked before him. As the mountains trembled, they melted away! For his anger was kindled, burning on my behalf. 8 Fierce flames leapt from his mouth, erupting with blazing, burning coals as smoke and fire encircled him. 9–10 He stretched heaven’s curtain open and came to my defense. Swiftly he rode to earth as the stormy sky was lowered. He rode a chariot of thunderclouds amidst thick darkness, a cherub his steed as he swooped down, soaring on the wings of Spirit-wind.
SERAPHIM
In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.” At the sound of their voices, the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke. “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.” Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.” – Isaiah 6:1-8
These Angels are all about the presence of God. They fly around the throne room of God declaring the holiness of God.
The word Seraphim [one Seraph, two or more Seraphim] means: burning ones, or nobles.
LIVING CREATURES
These angels are also known as “living beasts” or “the four beasts.” They minister by worshiping and glorifying God.
Also in front of the throne there was what looked like a sea of glass, clear as crystal.
In the center, around the throne, were four living creatures, and they were covered with eyes, in front and in back. 7 The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, the third had a face like a man, the fourth was like a flying eagle. 8 Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under its wings. Day and night they never stop saying: “‘Holy, holy, holy
is the Lord God Almighty,’ who was, and is, and is to come.” Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever, -Revelation 4:6-9
MINISTERING ANGELS
13 But to which of the angels has the Father ever said, “Sit at My right hand [together with me in royal dignity], Until I make your enemies A footstool for your feet [in triumphant conquest]”? 14 Are not all the angels ministering spirits sent out [by God] to serve (accompany, protect) those who will inherit salvation? [Of course they are!] Hebrews 1:13-14
2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. 3 Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body. Hebrews 13:2
We can also see this in the account of Peter and his Angels.
15 And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel. Acts 12:15
What does this phrase mean? Is it similar to saying, “It must be his ghost/spirit?” Did Peter have a guardian angel who was familiar to the gathered church (and mistakable for Peter)? Should it simply be understood as his messenger, perhaps sent from prison?
I believe that the disciples and other converts were so accustomed to Angels that when Peter showed up at Mary’s home they did NOT believe it at first thinking it MUST have been Peter’s Angel and not really Peter himself. God Always intended for HIS Kingdom to be interknit with our domain. It can be very commonplace for the Supernatural of any sort from the Kingdom of God to be intertwined into each and everyone’s life
ANGELS HAVE HIERARCHY
The 9 Choirs of Angels
+ Seraphim – Attendants before God’s throne
+ Cherubim – Praise God’s glory, guard
+ Thrones – Living symbols of God’s justice and authority
+ Dominions – Regulate the duties of the lower angels
+ Virtues – Govern all nature and heavenly bodies
+ Powers – Warrior Angels defending the cosmos
+ Principalities – Guardians of the realm of Earth
+ Archangels – Chief Angels who interact with humans
+ Angels – Messengers of God
Angels in the Bible appear to have a rank and order.
The Angel hierarchy is supported by Jude 9, when the Angel Michael is called an “Archangel”—a title that indicates rule or authority over other Angels.
He’s also called “one of the chief princes” in Daniel 10:13, and appears to lead God’s Angelic army in Revelation 12:
“Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, but they were defeated.”
Paul also tells us that the Lord will return from heaven “with the Archangel’s call” (1 Thessalonians 4:16).
ENOCH 20:
Enoch 20 names the heavenly cast of characters: And these are the names of the holy angels who watch: Uriel, one of the holy angels, who is over the world and over Tartarus; Raphael, one of the holy angels, who is over the spirits of men; Raguel, one of the holy angels who takes vengeance on the world of the luminaries; Michael, one of the holy angels, to wit, he that is set over the best part of mankind and over chaos; Saraqael, one of the holy angels, who is set over the spirits, who sin in the spirit; Gabriel, one of the holy angels, who is over Paradise and the serpents and the Cherubim. Remiel, one of the holy angels, whom God set over those who rise.
ONLY 2 ANGELS HAVE NAMES IN THE BIBLE
- The Archangel Michael [Jude 9, Revelation 12:7-8, Daniel 10:13,21]
- Gabriel [Daniel 8:16, 9:21, Luke 1, Luke 1:19, Luke 1:26-27]
ANGELS ARE NOT OMNIPRESENT
Angels frequently appear as messengers in the Bible traveling from one place to another.
The fact that angels are not omnipresent is made explicit when an angel visits Daniel.
12 Then he said, “Don’t be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day you began to pray for understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your request has been heard in heaven. I have come in answer to your prayer. 13 But for twenty-one days the spirit prince of the kingdom of Persia blocked my way. Then Michael, one of the archangels, came to help me, and I left him there with the spirit prince of the kingdom of Persia. 14 Now I am here to explain what will happen to your people in the future, for this vision concerns a time yet to come.”
If Angels were omnipresent, Michael would not have ‘came to help’ because he would have already been there, and this Angel wouldn’t need to leave Micheal with the Prince of Persia to bring this message.
God is Omnipresent!!
HOW FAST DO ANGELS TRAVEL?
The Bible does not mention how fast are angels. But we can conclude that angels can fly as fast as or faster than the speed of light from a reference in Daniel 9:21. Also, Ezekiel 1:13 says they move like lightening.
Light travels at 186, 282 mph
The circumference of the Earth is 25,000 m
So if an Angel can travels at the speed of light that would be 7 ½ m in 1 sec
The amount of time for you to yell for Jesus, your Angel has already traveled the earth 3 times
HOW MANY ANGELS EXIST?
We do not know.
The Bible doesn’t tell us how many Angels God created. But, apparently, there are a LOT of them.
'“The Lord came from Mount Sinai and dawned upon us from Mount Seir; he shone forth from Mount Paran and came from Meribah-kadesh with flaming fire at his right hand. ' Deuteronomy 33:2
'No, you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to countless thousands of angels in a joyful gathering. ' Hebrews 12:22
'Then I looked again, and I heard the voices of thousands and millions of angels around the throne and of the living beings and the elders. ' Revelation 5:11
Every Biblical reference to the total number of Angels suggests that they’re beyond counting.
ANGELS ARE VERY POWERFUL
Angels are called “mighty ones who do his word” [Psalm 103:20], “powers” [see Ephesians 1:21], and “dominions” and “authorities” [Colossians 1:16].
They are “greater in might and power” than humans [2 Peter 2:11, see also Matthew 28:2].
Angels use their power to battle against Satan’s demonic forces [Daniel 10:13, Revelation 12:7–8, 20:1–3]
2 KINGS 18 AND 19
An army was invading Jerusalem so to save Israel ONE Angel goes into the Assyrians camp to battle and the next day 185,000 men were DEAD!
185,000 = 1 Angel
Jesus said he could call 12 legion of Angels to save Himself from the cross if needed
Legion = 6 thousand
That is 72,000 Angels that would have came to set him free
That is 13.3 billion of People that 72,000 Angels could take out.
The population of Earth is 7.4
The 12 legion of Angels could have come and saved him and killed us all TWO TIMES
So, when God says he will protect you .. HE WILL PROTECT YOU!! He has got the numbers.
ANGELS CARRY OUT GOD’S PLAN
There are numerous ways in which Angels carry out God’s plans on Earth:
They frequently bring God’s messages to people
[Luke 1:11-19, Acts 8:26, 10:3-8, 27:23-24]
They carry out some of God’s judgments, bringing a plague upon Israel [2 Samuel 24:16-17], smiting the leaders of the Assyrian army [2 Chronicles 32:21], striking King Herod dead because he did into give God glory [Acts 12:23], or pouring out bowls of God’s wrath on the Earth [Rev 16:1].
When Christ returns, Angels will com with him as a great army accompanying their King and Lord [Matt 16:27, Luke 9:26, 2 Thess 1:7].
They patrol the Earth as God’s representatives [Zechariah 1:10-11].
They carry out war against demonic forces [Daniel 10:13, Rev 12:7-8].
John records that an Angel ‘seized the dragon’ [Rev 20:1-3].
When Christ returns, an Archangel will proclaim his coming [1 Thess 4:16, Rev 18:1-2, 19:17-18, and others].
ANGELS DIRECTLY GLORIFY GOD
'Bless the Lord , you His angels, Who excel in strength, who do His word, Heeding the voice of His word.' Psalms 103:20
'The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying: “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!”' Revelation 4:8
'Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one cried to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!”' Isaiah 6:2-3
'“Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”' Luke 2:14
'But when He again brings the firstborn into the world, He says: “Let all the angels of God worship Him.”' Hebrews 1:6
Paul reminds us that our actions are carried out in the presents of Angelic witnesses:
'I charge you before God and the Lord Jesus Christ and the elect angels that you observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing with partiality. ' I Timothy 5:21
'For I think that God has displayed us, the apostles, last, as men condemned to death; for we have been made a spectacle to the world, both to angels and to men. ' I Corinthians 4:9
ANGELS ARE NOT TO BE WORSHIPED
“Worship of angels” was one of the false doctrines being taught at Colossae [Colossians 2:18].
In the book of Revelation, an angel warns John not to worship him: “You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brethren who hold the testimony of Jesus. Worship God” [Revelation 19:10].
This doesn’t mean we can’t talk to them. We talk to each other. We talk to our animals. That doesn’t mean we worship them. We don’t pray to Angels. We pray to God to send his Angels. But, if an Angel of the Lord shows up we can talk to them, just do not worship them.

Billy Graham
1Now in Caesarea there was a man named Cornelius, a centurion in what was known as the Italian Regiment. 2 He was a devout man who feared God, as did everyone in his home. He gave many gifts to the poor among the people and always prayed to God. 3 One day, about three in the afternoon,he had a vision and clearly saw an angel of God coming to him and saying to him, “Cornelius!” 4 He stared at the angel in terror and asked, “What is it, Lord?” The angel answered him, “Your prayers and your gifts to the poor have arisen as a reminder to God. Acts 10:1-4

WHO IS THE ‘THE ANGEL OF THE LORD’?
•WHEN THE DEFINITE ARTICLE “THE” IS USED, IT IS SPECIFYING A UNIQUE BEING, SEPARATE FROM THE OTHER ANGELS. THE ANGEL OF THE LORD SPEAKS AS GOD, IDENTIFIES HIMSELF WITH GOD, AND EXERCISES THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF GOD (GENESIS 16:7-12; 21:17-18; 22:11-18; EXODUS 3:2; JUDGES 2:1-4; 5:23; 6:11-24; 13:3-22; 2 SAMUEL 24:16; ZECHARIAH 1:12; 3:1; 12:8).
•IN SEVERAL OF THESE APPEARANCES, THOSE WHO SAW THE ANGEL OF THE LORD FEARED FOR THEIR LIVES BECAUSE THEY HAD “SEEN THE LORD.”
•EX 23:20 HE CALLS HIM MY ANGEL
•EX 23:21 DO NOT PROVOKE HIM B/C HE WILL NOT FORGIVE YOU.. WELL ANGELS HAVE NO POWER TO FORGIVE SIN
•EX 23:23 MY ANGEL WILL GO BEFORE YOU TO BRING YOU IN
•EX 23:21 HE SAYS MY NAME IS IN HIM
•I BELIEVE “THE ANGEL OF THE LORD” ARE MANIFESTATIONS OF JESUS BEFORE HIS INCARNATION.
•JESUS DECLARED HIMSELF TO BE EXISTENT “BEFORE ABRAHAM” (JOHN 8:58), SO IT IS LOGICAL THAT HE WOULD BE ACTIVE AND MANIFEST IN THE WORLD.
•THE APPEARANCES OF THE ANGEL OF THE LORD CEASE AFTER THE INCARNATION OF CHRIST. ANGELS ARE MENTIONED NUMEROUS TIMES IN THE NEW TESTAMENT, BUT “THE ANGEL OF THE LORD” IS NEVER MENTIONED IN THE NEW TESTAMENT AFTER THE BIRTH OF CHRIST.
•THERE IS SOME CONFUSION REGARDING MATTHEW 28:2, WHERE THE KJV SAYS “THE ANGEL OF THE LORD” DESCENDED FROM HEAVEN AND ROLLED THE STONE AWAY FROM JESUS’ TOMB. IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT THE ORIGINAL GREEK HAS NO ARTICLE IN FRONT OF ANGEL. OTHER TRANSLATIONS BESIDES THE KJV SAY IT WAS “AN ANGEL,” WHICH IS THE BETTER WORDING.
•
