There are things in our walk as Christians and followers of Jesus that are based on where we are in our walk. Then there are things that are 100% wrong and biblically sound truth of what we are to stay away from. ANY form of witchcraft is one.
You can walk through any store, browse any app on TV and see that Halloween is rooted in witchcraft. It correlates with all things DEAD!! It has NEVER been a sweet innocent holiday. It is covered and smothered with death and fear.
Why would any SEPERATED Christian wanna partake in that? I too USE to. Heck, Sean & I got ENGAGED on Halloween night dressed as a DEAD groom and bride. And we were walking around saying yeah we’re Christ followers, it was a disgusting stench to the nostrils of God. As someone who was fully engulfed in all things dark and twisted and demonic who has been set free and scales removed, I have FULL authority in me by the POWER of the work Jesus did on the cross to stand and declare the truth of what the word says.
He says be either hot or cold, not lukewarm. You are either for him and against all things of the world and satan or you are not.
The Bible doesn’t have to say word for word say “hey don’t celebrate Halloween,” it already shows us how we are suppose to live and what we are to steer clear of. The Bible doesn’t say “HEY DON’T DRINK BLEACH,” but, we know bleach = not good for our body. Same thing with anything witchcraft = not good for body soul or spirit. The story of Simon, or Elymas the sorcerer shows that occultism and Christianity don’t mix.
The bible is crystal clear: witchcraft, witches, and sorcery = an abomination to the Lord.
This aint about ‘oh don’t judge anybody’ or ‘ you do what you feel is best’ .. WHAT YOU THINK IS BEST will lead you straight to Hell it’s why we needed a savior. It’s why we have prophets, teachers, evangelist, Apostles, pastors declaring the word of the Lord. Because OUR truth, OUR way, OUR opinions, OUR reasoning is NOT his unless our thoughts and minds have been renewed, changed, under the order of our LORD and savior. Jesus is not just our savior, BUT OUR LORD. Meaning this isn’t a democracy. We don’t get to vote on what is good and what is not HE HAS ALREADY TOLD US.
Origins
Halloween originates from the Celtic festival of Samhain, where people believed the veil between the living and the dead was thinnest, and spirits roamed the earth. People lit bonfires and wore costumes to ward off spirits or honor the dead; practices rooted in paganism and necromancy.
Anything connected to the occult, witchcraft, or communication with the dead is strictly forbidden by God. Halloween’s roots and symbols directly celebrate or mimic those very things.
Light & Darkness
Christians are called to be children of light, separate from the works of darkness. Halloween glorifies fear, death, horror, and evil; all things that stand against the nature of God.
Even if someone says, “I only do it for fun,” Scripture warns us not to blend in with what represents spiritual darkness. Light doesn’t compromise with shadow.
Holiness
Participating in Halloween, even casually, blurs the line between what is holy and what is profane. God repeatedly calls His people to be distinct.
We cannot reflect the holiness of Christ while participating in a day that celebrates fear, death, and the demonic, even under the disguise of fun or tradition.
Kingdom Life
Everything believers do should glorify God and point others toward the Kingdom, not mix His light with worldly customs.
When we participate in traditions that glorify darkness, even unintentionally, we compromise our witness. Our lives are meant to reflect Jesus, not blend with the world’s ways.
Spiritual Battle
Scripture makes clear that there are real spiritual forces at work, not all things are “harmless fun.” Halloween often desensitizes people to the demonic, witchcraft, and evil imagery that grieves the Spirit of God.
Celebrating what glorifies fear, horror, and the occult aligns us closer to what the enemy loves, not what God loves.
