Purity Isn’t Old-Fashioned

Part II, a continued teaching; if you missed Part I, start there.

Here is what Scripture, history, and covenant truly reveal about sex.

Sex is not casual, recreational, or meaningless. It was created by God as a holy covenant act, sealed with blood, spirit, and purpose. In Scripture, every covenant God established was sealed with blood.

“For the life of the flesh is in the blood… it is the blood that makes atonement.” Leviticus 17:11

Marriage is no different. In ancient Hebrew culture, the first sexual union between a husband and wife was seen as the blood-seal of the covenant, the physical proof that the marriage had been consummated. Historically, the breaking of the hymen was understood as the shedding of covenant blood, marking the joining of two lives before God. This was never meant to be a hobby, a pastime, or an experiment. It was meant to be a sacred covenant, signed in blood.

The Hebrew word for “covenant” is berith, which literally refers to cutting or slicing, because covenants were always sealed by blood. The physical union between husband and wife carried that same imagery; God Himself designed sex to be the covenant act that sealed a marriage.

From the beginning, God made it clear that sex belongs only within the male and female covenant.

“So God created man in His own image… male and female He created them.” Genesis 1:27
“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” Genesis 2:24

The Hebrew word for “joined” here is dabaq, which means to cling, to be glued, to be fused into one being. Sex is not just physical; it is a spiritual fusion. The “one flesh” union is not a metaphor. It is a covenant.

Paul confirms this again in the New Testament:

“For the two, He says, shall become one flesh.” 1 Corinthians 6:16

Sex reflects Christ and the Church, not culture and chaos. Covenant reflects Heaven’s order. Everything outside God’s design is a counterfeit crafted to distort what is holy. Fornication, adultery, homosexual acts, prostitution, pornography, group sex, and every other distortion are not “alternatives.” They are spiritual counterfeits that attack the image of God, the covenant of marriage, and the design of creation itself.

This reality becomes clearer when we examine why God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. Modern culture tries to water it down and say it was about “hospitality,” but Scripture is blunt.

“Sodom and Gomorrah… having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh…” Jude 1:7

The Greek word for “strange” here is heteros, meaning another kind, different from nature, referring to sexual acts outside the created order.

Ancient Jewish historian Philo wrote that Sodom was filled with “unbridled lust… men inflamed toward men… and shameless public acts.” Other historical records describe prostitution in the streets, orgies held openly in public squares, children raised in environments of perversion, and sexual rituals dedicated to false gods.

Genesis records the men of Sodom demanding the angels for sex.

“Bring them out to us that we may know them carnally.” Genesis 19:5

The Hebrew phrase “to know them” yāda‘, is the same word used throughout Scripture for sexual intimacy.

Sodom was not confused. It was corrupt. And God judged a city that had completely rejected His created order.

Jesus Himself referenced Sodom as a warning.

“But on the day that Lot went out of Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all.” Luke 17:29

God’s judgment was not random; it was a response to a society that celebrated what God called shameful.

Marriage, by God’s definition, is a covenant between a man and a woman. Not because tradition says so. Not because culture prefers it. But because Heaven ordained it from the beginning.

“Then the Lord God made a woman… and He brought her to the man.” Genesis 2:22
“What God has joined together, let not man separate.” Matthew 19:6

The Greek word for “joined” in Matthew 19 is syzéugnymi, which means yoked together by God as a single unit.

✅God blessed male and female.
✅God joined male and female.
✅God commanded male and female to multiply.
✅God gave covenant intimacy to male and female to reflect Christ and His Bride.

Anything outside of this is not a new revelation; it is rebellion against the design God wrote into the human body, the human spirit, and the covenant of marriage.

The world might twist it. Culture might mock it. Hell might pervert it. However, God’s design remains holy.

“Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.” Hebrews 13:4

Hell does not attack casual things. Hell attacks holy things. The enemy hates sexuality because he hates covenant. He hates anything that reflects God’s design. He hates the image of God in male and female. And he hates anything that produces life: naturally or spiritually.

But God is restoring purity. He is exposing counterfeits. And He is calling His people back to His original design, where intimacy is sacred, covenant is honored, and the marriage bed is undefiled.

God is raising up a remnant that will speak truth without fear, clarity without compromise, and holiness without apology.

This is not about shame. This is about restoration. This is about reclaiming what Heaven designed and rejecting what hell has counterfeited.

Covenant is sacred. Marriage is sacred. Sexual intimacy is sacred.

It is time for God’s people to RISE UP, return to the Word, and honor what He called holy.
